JCW steering angle stop install help

Sorry if this has been posted before but my computer is pooched so I'm doing this from my cell and the search doesn't work too well. Anyway I'm trying to install the steering angle stop but not sure how to.

For starters the official instructions say it comes with stop rings. Mine didn't. It came with two nuts instead. Thought it might just be a change in setups but I can't get my inner tie rod off I got the boot pulled back, but maybe I should cut it off? At the outer end inside the boot there is a large hex, is do I turn that to remove the inner tie rod? The bently manual kindly just says remove it. Litterally. That's a quote.

I just don't want to screw up the rack. I have my sun frame dropped right now. I'd hate to try this with it intalled like your supposed to be able to do.

What am I missing here? In need of some help. Are the nuts instead of rings correct? And how do I get in there to do anything?

Thanks

Beecher

I'm afraid I can't be of any help to your problem... other than to ask - why are you installing them? I had them installed when I bought my JCW wheels, but now I'm having them taken off (literally this week - MINI is in the shop for that and a few other things).

Everyone I've talked to that has JCW wheels but didn't get the steering angle stop says they don't rub without them. Since the 205/40R18 tires that come with the 18" JCW wheels are the same width as the 205/45R17 tires that come with MINI's 17" wheels (hey - they're both 205mm! Duh), I guess it's not as big of a problem as MINI would have you believe. Perhaps if I was going over large bumps (speedbumps) while turning at full lock, there would be an issue... but otherwise I really doubt they are necessary.

I have to say one thing - I'm looking forward to being able to do short 180 degree U-turns again!

hmm i thought i posted a reply to this. guess it didnt take from my phone, so i appologise. Anyway, FWIW I have madness front control arm bushings, and they rub on the rear bolt head for the outer ball joint at full lock. Need these to stop the rubbing.

again sorry for the delay, my origional post had far more info in it, and took forever to type out on my cell phone, and i now see all was a waste.

i also figured out that in order to losen the inner end of the inner tie link, the sub frame must be attached, or at least be high enough off the ground so you can come at the large hex from between the control arm and sub frame. hopefully that will help someone else either installing or removing them. I leraned it only after hours of trying to find away and then got fed up and reinstalled the subframe. at which point i seen the error i was making.

that said, I still havnt custome made any stops yet. maybe this week. haha

thanks for the help, and again, sorry that it seemed like i forgot about you, i didnt, this was just the first time i had acess to internet that wasnt on my phone, haha

thanks again

Take any instructions you get from JCW, along with any "stops", and throw them all in the garbage. JCW are idiots for thinking two different style wheels with the same backspacing need steering angle reducers. A perfect textbook example why OEM's are not always right.
