Suspension I need help... again (sigh!)
I need help... again (sigh!)
After a month of driving bliss...no thumping or clunking...Schultze is starting to make noise again.
The noise is coming from the passenger front coilover...
A fellow club member tightened the hexnut that is directly beneath the adjustable damper **** (will take pics & post 'em shortly) and the noise immediately disappeared. He tightened the nut until it was snug...it was VERY loose. The driver front coilover doesn't make any noise and the nut on that side isn't loose at all.

However, the noise has returned and sounds horrible. The sound only occurs when making turns and it only comes from the passenger front.
I found a thread...but lost it...which mentioned tightening that center nut to torque. I have easy access to the nut, but I need to know if there's something underneath that needs to be "held" so that the tightening is being done properly. (Similar to the process of removing an end-link...)
I have to drive from Hampton Roads, VA to Perry Hall, MD this weekend to pickup my daughter and I want to make sure Schultze is in tip-top shape.
Thanks!

Well I know when I make turns my springs bind cause Im slammed so low. But in YOUR case...the spring might not be flush up against the stop of the hat. Who knows. And I just tightened my nut gorilla tight.....but you might want to torque yours right...LMAO
Sounds like spring binding. If you have lots of negative camber then you perches may be bound up against the tower, or just plain bound up. So when you turn the spring twist until it can twist no more an then it will "POP" as it untwist. You can get one to severl pops per turn.
Now, if those top nuts are coming loose, which is common, then replace them with new nylocks as yours may be poor of worn. Better yet would be to double nut it with slimmer nuts with a lock washer in between.

It's definitely a "twaaaannnngggg" sound and occurs during slow speed cornering.
my top nuts are tight
but have the same "spring" noise passenger side
running stock camber, and only 1 inch off stock height, so not at all slammed...
its not even a constant thing, some days its as quiet as stock, others i think i am about to loose a shock...
will have another look this weekend
i have a plan B as some swift springs are heading my way
which i hope will sort it for me...long term, but would like a quick fix for now
