I kind of did it the other way....

I kept the Sport suspension shocks.

I installed the JCW springs.

I installed an Alta 22mm swaybar.

I LOVE the way the car handles.

Works perfect for me...

So I can get the springs alone?

Is that what the JCW suspension stage I entails, or does it normally also come with shocks, which you just chose not to get?

If your setup is warranty ok, I like the way it sounds, especially if it's less that a "full" JCW suspension including shocks... I don't track much, and I may never track the Mini anyways due to cost and time (I know... it's sad. ) I'm just sick of the car looking like an SUV (~4" between the top of the back tire and the wheel well, seriously, what were they thinking??)... and a bit of a handling improvement would always be nice.

Where can you buy the JCW suspension piecemeal?

Also, why not just run the JCW springs, as they're probably perfectly matched with the rest of the kit?

A few things....

The JCW springs only drop the car .4 of an inch. I thought it wasn't going to be enough but honestly, it's perfect. Any more and it would affect ride and driveability. (driveability as in speed bumps, etc)

I track the car maybe half a dozen times a year, I'm not a track junkie at all. I have the sport suspension and the JCW springs was the perfect answer for me. It handles fantastic and drives great on the street.

If I was going to the track on a regular basis, no doubt I would replace the shocks also and probably go aftermarket at that.

But for the spirited driving and few track days I do a year, this is the perfect setup.

BTW, the JCW springs cost me 300 bucks plus 40 shipping.

HTH's,

Mark

Some people want a more aggressive drop.

You can buy them speparately...you just have to find the part numbers. However, the springs are specifically matched to the options in your car. I'm not sure how many different springs they have.

That's right.... when I ordered my springs, I had to give them my vin#. I can only assume they want to match the springs to my shocks, weight, etc, etc...

All these different levels of JCW options are driving me nuts. I have just placed an order for a JCW Stage II (Factory?) car. I included the Sports Suspension on my option list, no JCW coil over struts, and no strut bar. The fact that I have the option to order a Sports Suspension on the JCW Stage II car make me wonder what the base line for the JCW Stage II car is without this option. Is it the same as the MCS? Is it a level beyond the two levels (base and sports MCS) available for the MCS? Can anyone tell me what the different components are that make up these different packages, is it just different valveing in the struts, different springs? And how many levels? Hope I am making sense! Sorry for repeating the model designation so often but I wanted to state exactly which models I was asking about.

Reviving this old thread.

So, adding the JCW lowering springs but keeping the factory upgraded sport suspension will only lower the car, but not affect the ride quality? If so, I"m sold!

Don't waste your money on the JCW springs. I had them originally and then swapped them over to NM Engineering springs.

THey almost half the cost, ride much better and actually lower the perfect amount.

The JCW springs are great but they really don't lower the car enough. I liked them when I installed them until someone turned me on to the NM springs.

HTH's,

Mark

Are you still running the shocks/struts that came with the sports suspension and the NM springs?
Thanks!

Thanks for the info Orange Crush. I already had sport suspension with a 22mm Alta. After reading your posts on how you like the sport suspension (I do too, just wish it wouldn't pitch so much during hard acceleration and braking), Priority one is function and priority two seems to be visual (I feel the same way), You do a few track days, I am an ex Motorcycle road racer and hope to get back to the track.

Well I finally pulled the trigger and have no regrets. NM's with the stock sport shocks are working even better than expected. The stockers seem to be gas filled like Bilstiens. I had to stand on them hard to get the spring caps back on and they stayed fully extended. You cut the bumpstops with the NM springs and i think this is what smooths the ride out on the little stuff. It is still stiff on large hits but it doesn't rattle your teeth like before. I pushed it just a little today and the pitching is gone. Car feels great. Thanks again Orange Crush

Does the full JCW suspension relitavly eliminate pitch, dive, and roll? I am not looking for much drop at all being I have to drive in the snow.

Still no info on what exactly the factory "Sport Suspension" upgrade is?

Item list and/or specs?
