Suspension Installing new FSD struts
Installing new FSD struts
--Has anyone installed their own FSD struts?
If so, could you tell me what equipment/tools you need to install them?
... and yes I have done several searches.
Would you recommend a home mechanic trying to do this or is the list of required shop equipment too extensive for mere mortals?
If it is too daunting a task does anyone have a suggestion for a good suspension shop in Burlington Vermont?
I'd like to change out my stock sport suspension struts for a new set of FSD struts but I didn't like the dealer quote of $600 to do the job.
I've changed out entire engines, swapped heads and done numerous head gasket changes, and basically have replaced everything on cars within the engine bay and brake system. However when it comes to suspension I'm a bit of NOOB.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance everyone!

there is a spring how-to involving strut removal and installation which is well documented by k-huevo. there is also a specific thread re: the installation of the fsd's.
Get the bentley service manual as well. you will need several torque wrenches that cover various ranges. a spring compressor. Hex (allen) key sockets. There is a specialty socket for removal and installation of the top nut for the struts. or you can dremel your own. jack stands or lift are a must.
I've done it myself. take your time. print and read the two threads. the front struts will take the most time.
