I don't know the offsets of your r84s, but since your flik wasps have on et42, you're probably going to need a 5mm spacer. Also, can you do me a favor and take pictures of this metal washer and the ones KWs sends you in the box? I just want to make sure they are different.

KW didn't include a different spacer like the one you're holding in my kit. They also didn't need a different one from stock. Does yours not fit?

You're ... I'm ! Maybe the KW V3s are different?! I spoke to KW and they said they should've came with the kit and are sending me new ones for a pretty hefty price, but the CBR actually paid me back for them. But yes, the stock ones do NOT fit and aren't even close. I'll take pics when the new ones come in just to give some closure to all this...

Do you have the Variant I, IIs or IIIs? I know for a fact, the stock ones would not fit on mine.

Well for what it's worth, the Variant 1's are a very easy swap. Sorry to hear your V3's are being a pain.

ok so im contemplating spacer width now, all i need is 5 mm, but should i spring for the 10 mm just to get that wide *** stance. i will probably rub then with the fliks right? also, the problem with the 5 mm is that the fliks have a beveled center bore and on turner motorsports website for the h&r's it says their 5 mm spacers cannot be used if they have this. i really need help...

Offset calculator is here... Sorry, but I can't confirm your situation because I am not familiar with the r53. If you post someone else's setup that is using the KW1 on his r53, I can estimate for you if you can't figure out how the offset calculator works.

HELPP!!

the coilovers are on!!!....one problem.... im gettin the dreaded vibration thats talked about in another thread!!! if those of u with an r53 that havent experienced this significantly (i can deal with a lil more feedback thru the pedal and such i understand its stiffer and what not) but please tell me what height, like how many threads are left on ur front and rear struts?

or according to the manual that i dont understand what are the exact recommended settings?, u kno for that thread measurement A im goin back to the shop soon and ill let him know to make it easier

my rear is dumped and my camber is ridiculous, u guys think its alright to be drivin like this with the vibrations for 2 or 3 days?

my bad, im just nervous, ive been spending all this money lately and im not feeling what i want to feel

so by my calcs, ryephile has approx 140.25mm of backspacing (from back edge of wheel to back of bolt surface). an 18x8 et38 would have approximately 139.6mm of backspacing which means it would require approximately the same 10mm of spacer.

anyone wanna check my math?

^^^It depends on the tire. I was able to fit my wheels with no spacer, but once the tires were installed it needed clearance. Also, it depends on ride height. If you only want mild lowering, you probably won't need any spacer, or only a 3 or 5mm. The size of the tire is the biggest factor in determining how much spacer you need. If you're stretching a 215/35-18 onto that 8" wide wheel then you may not need any or much spacer...again depends on ride height. Want slammed with tall & wide tire and you'll need huge spacers.

I'm going to revive this old thread. I'm getting ST coilovers (they are KW V1 with stainless steel bodies) and am going to run them at full ride height. i.e. I'm going to set them as high as they will go. I am going to run the factory challenge spoke wheels et48, conti DWS 205/45 tires. I also have 5mm spacers coming as well.

Do you think this will work?

You cannot run them too high as you will run out of travel and hit the top of the shock movement. Call the manufacturer and see what they recommend.

Tires and rims are fine. You are likely not to need the spacer unless you want to move the stance out a little.

huh? I'm going to adjust the collar to their highest setting so that I can DD my Mini without scraping everywhere. I wanted coilovers so I could adjust later if I wanted to.

I called ST/KW and they said it was ok to run them at full ride height.

If that is what they say, then it should be ok. That is why the give you adjustment ranges.

My AST 5100 race coil cannot be run at full height because at full expansion, it will hit the top of the shock. It cannot be too low as it will hit the bottom as well. Do not confuse this with scraping the car front spoiler in a bump. This is internal inside the shock or coil.

FWIW, I'm on KWV2. Wheels are ET45. I just barely rubbed on 215/45 with about 1.0-inch drop, so I used 5mm spacers. No rubbing on 205/45 even without spacers.

Not sure how different V1 is from V2.

Don't forget it's recommended to get longer lug bolts or studs for spacers over 3mm.

Well, I'm getting 215/45 Conti DWS tires. But I also have 5 and 12 mm spacers with the longer bolts. I believe I should be okay. I'm not riding dumped. I'm going to ride them pretty high. I'll report back with my findings in a couple of weeks when I get my car and can install the parts.

Sorry just saw this thread, I have Bilstein PSS10, stock challenge-spoke wheels, and Dunlop star spec z1 in 215/45/17 (which in actuality is 220mm in width).

No rubbing

So I'm back. I have them installed and I'm riding with the perches all the way up. I had to use the 5mm spacers. With the 5mm on there, I can fit a finger between the perch and the tire. Any lower and I'd have to use a much large spacer.

Looks great Bao. So is it mandatory to get spacers on a JCW with colovers?

I am trying to piece together some parts so I can have them installed before the snow arrives.

Thinking of KW V1 coils, uncertain on lower control arms, keeps my JCW cross spoke wheels and maybe spacers (if needed for minimal drop ~1.5")
