TSW springs - question/problem HELP

Good afternoon everyone,
I just installed the TSW springs on my 06mcs, everything else seems normal but it has a little noise come out under the hood when I stop and go. It has a "knock" noise when I complete stop and go and it only knock once everytime i stop and go. It sounds like it is hitting something, I have check everything i can but i could not find out what is causing the noise. I am wondering if anyone has the same problem. by the way, I did not installed the springs myself, i have the shop (who i knew them for many years) installed for me last week. I just want to find out more before i take it back to the shop. thanks,

Make sure that the top nuts on the upper strut mounts are tight - also, make sure that they got the strut nuts tight on both sides. Finally, make sure that the shop re-installed all OEM rubber bushings on the springs (top and bottom).

thank you for the infor. I will ask them to re-check all items. it is kind of strange - it handle and ride really well but just have a little noise, just one knock everytime i stop and go. I will ask them to re-check and re-install my front suspension and i will let you know the outcome. thanks again for your help.

Make sure the wheels are torqued completely (120 N-m / 88.4 ft-lbs), too.

Did you pound your fender strut area out a bit? I just got TSW springs and they say you might need to pound the inside of the strut area out a bit with a hammer. Maybe the spring is touching inside and just rubbing a bit?

That was my second thought... the first one being loose nuts in the strut tower assembly. I'll poke around a bit... I seem to remember seeing some photos that they took of my car when they were doing the beta test install...

Not a bad sign, just a fact of life when modding your car.

This is not an issue for ALL MINI's that want to use TSW Springs. Here are the details and facts. This is only an issue IF you are also using camber plates AND run them with lots of neg camber. Please see this link for more details. http://www.txwerks.com/images/Instal...%20Springs.pdf

It's a great set of springs and with IE camber plates an easy, low dollar, way to mod your car for AutoX or hard play on the street. Can also be found at http://www.autoxcooper.com/tsw_suspension.html

I thought I remembered the rubbing issue only being an occasional problem up to 2005 model year? Or am I thinking of something else?

Those are the pics I was looking for... no wonder I couldn't find 'em on NAM. Thank you!

You are right. The TSW springs and IE fixed plates are a great, fairly inexpensive way to get some major handling upgrades. Those pics are of my '06 MCS with the TSW springs and IE Fixed front camber plates installed.

What alignment numbers are you guys with TSW and IE plates running? Meaning.. What camber did you manage to get from the front?

I think I had -1.8 and -1.9 deg camber in the front w/ the TSW and fixed IE plates. I'll search around and see if I can find my alignment specs from when I had the work done a while back...

It does sound like something may be loose. However, are you certain that the front springs are right-side up? If you happen to mount them upside down the 'bulge' in beehive will be on the inside instead of the outside (toward the wheel) so its much closer to the inside edge of the strut tower and may be bumping. The winding on the MINI beehive spring is very similar top and bottom.

I have had the TSW springs on my car for about a year and recently swapped out a set of adjustable Hotchkiss camber plates for the new TSW plates and couldn't be happier with the setup as it is until I can afford a set of their AST coilovers.
