Need Help With Tire Size With Cross Susp.

I looking to get new tires to replace my Run Flats, the problem i have is the tire size, I would like to get 215/40R/18 instead of the 205/40R/18. I have lowered my mini 1.5in with the Cross susp. the people of Tire Rack told me that they will not warranty that the 215/40/18 will not rub. Is anyone using 215/40/18 with Cross Susp...?

The only issue I can see would be the spring perch. The tire will fit on the rim and in the wheel well no problem. At worst, you may need to use a spacer, but if the JCW wheel is a 48 mm offset, you can go all the way to a 10mm spacer without rubbing on the outside.

Hope that helps!

I suspect the rubbing they are concerned about is this?
(I'm no expert though .. so someone with better wheel knowledge will hopefully correct me if I have mispoken)

I'm actually wanting to do the same thing as the OP .. with one exception...

I want to keep my R98 wheels, which are 17".
Can I got to 215? Will I need a spacer? Or should I just stick to 205?

Edit: R98 web-spoke (two-piece) ET48 22.3lb

As a data point:

I have Crosses and 7.5 x 17 wheels, ET 40, with 215/40 tires.
Currently, the bottom of the high point of my wheel arch is 24" from the ground. Nothing rubs.
