21mm strut socket

not sure where this thread needs to be located but i figured this is a good start. i'm looking to rent/borrow a 21 mm strut socket to change my springs. obviously i could purchase this item but i'd much rather go the cheaper route if possible. if anyone has this tool for me to rent/borrow please let me know. i know i can get remove the nut but my concern is retorquing the entire assembly to the correct setting - any assistance would be much appreciated!

I bought a regular 21mm deep socket and dremelled a window in the socket so that it looked just like the real thing. $5 instead of $60. I believe someone on the octaneguy brake writeup recomended this approach - it worked for me.

so will it withstand the tremendous amount of torque to loosen and tighten this nut? i thought about doing this too but i was afraid of weakening the socket iteself.

I'll be able to tell you in a week.

But I suspect it will be FINE. I may use an impact wrench to loosen mine, anyway... tightening torque really isn't that big a deal (it's not likely to break the socket)

But socket steel is pretty strong stuff... a little bit can hold a lot of torque...

I just used a spark plug socket so I could insert a hex head thru the top and then use a wrench on the top of the socket.....works great.....

The picture Eric posted, thats what I cut a regular 21mm deep socket to look like. It was plenty strong enough and dirt cheap.
