Suspension Tire Size & Wheel Painiting
Tire Size & Wheel Painiting
Ok.. so Oliver will be here in less than a month, and I've started gathering necessary intel and parts for track days. I'm reading some of the recommended books, and I'm trying to get in a Kilgore Class (for those in TX/LA) before signing up for a DE.
I also read that it's best to leave the car stock, learn to drive it, then mod. However, I don't want to shred the stock tires while I'm learning. (I know I won't be going very fast at first, but still...) So, I bought a set of very nice R102 S-Winder's and am going to be painting them black. (Anyone that's done this, a quick question --> primer or no primer? I've read that using primer tends to make them chip more easily, but Duplicolor recommends it. And yes, I thought about powdercoating .. but I can't afford to do that AND get new tires for the wheels.)
So, after much rambling, the crux of the post. What size do you recommend on the stock 16X6.5 wheel for fitment and performance? 205/45, 215/45, 225/45, 225/50?
