Interesting info...Does anyone make a aftermarket bumpstop to help with this problem?

Also is there is a range in which we can lower that will prevent the dead ride? I think I know the answer as JCW Springs only lower 10 mm.

TIA.

cutting the bump stop causes the shock to overextend and reduces it's effectiveness. Changing the spring rate and ride height also reduce the shocks effectiveness. The general rule is they should match, and changing one without the other causes imbalance. It is tolerable and acceptable for many drivers with lowering springs, but not ideal.

So to prevent the altered and imbalanced ride, change both dampers and springs with a matching set or coilovers.

I was told by Koni today that they will be working on and releasing a sport damper package for the R56 this summer. It does not exist yet and they don't endorse using adapter bushings to make the R53 kit work.

The bumpstops are NOT the problem, the lack of damper stroke is! When you lower your R56 with H&R lowering springs [or any lowering spring that drops the car in the same range] you end up with only 0.7" of front suspension compression travel, including bumper compression. This means that on large bumps, your tires are most of your impact cushion. Changing the bumpstops will not help the problem of having painfully minimal suspension compression travel.

The bottom line is; if you don't like the ride, then you either need to go back to stock, or invest in coilovers that allow you to set them up such that they offer at least 2" of compression travel [which is about what stock setup is].

+1

Also possible on other cars, like a Honda to get shortened damper bodies on your Koni yellows. It is very normal for autocrossers/and road racers to have a 1" wheel gap and still need 1.5 removed from the front dampers. Even tho you can slam a integra to the floor you have no workable suspension so your handling is garbage.

I got my springs today, and right on the info letter they sent, it lists a few cars that they recommend the bump stops cut. The MINI is no one of those cars. So I would imagine that we should not cut the bump stops
