I just had a H-Sport 19mm RSB installed at med setting. I have a 2008 MCS with stock suspension set-up otherwise.

It could be my imagination, but, can this set-up reduce torque steer?

I took it for a nice ride home and torque steer was basically gone.

Also, handling was much improved as well.

 

A stiffer rear anti-roll bar in a MINI is going to reduce understeer when cornering.

If that helps with tire traction in general for you then yes the torque steer will be lessened.

Any improved overall handling will help make your MINI more drivable, safe and controllable.

 

Like mentioned above only in the turns will it help. Lowering the car will help alot though b\c it will limit the amout of weight transfered to the rear during acceleration.

A 19mm bar with three holes should work. You have a 2002 MCS and this is a R56 2nd generation MINI forum.

The 2002s refers to an older model BMW 2002, I have 2 of them a 1971 and a 1972 track car. I want to make sure that I get a large enough and also adjustable sway bar for track events and to better balance the car. It is a 2005 MC40 Edition S Mini. Is 19mm large enough?

 

This is a 2nd generation R56 forum. Yours is a first generation R53 MCS.

19mm is standard for MCS upgrade and OK for street use. Likely this will work for you unless you have a fully upgraded suspension. You can use all three hole settings.

22mm bar is ok but you'll use the softest setting of 2 or 3 holes and find the rest too stiff for road use. Too stiff will result in oversteer in corners which is unsafe for street use. For the track either bar can work. H sport makes a 25mm hollow bar to save 5 lbs weight but is as stiff as the normal 22mm bar.

 

I purchased and installed both H&R Springs and a Minspeed 19mm sway bar, and the torque steer is definitely lower, and it feels great after I Dragon tested the setup. David in the Smoky Mountain MINIs club in Knoxville helped with the install and recommeneded the 19mm bar because its safer, less stiff and better for street driving. For reference he has had 14 MINI/minis over the years and has them all set up for autoX and does so frequently. If you plan to do some serious AutoX or are going to be doing lots of speed mods with some racing in there a 22mm bar may be a good idea, but with me I have modest performance mods and suspension mods and 19mm works great for me.
