Speedometer calibration???

I'll be getting my (new to me) mini in the next few days. One of the first mods will to either lower it or change the wheel/tire combination (or perhaps both)

I don't want to lower it so much I have to deal with speed bumps, etc.

I'm more interested in filling in the space in the wheelwell.

If I bump up the stock 16" wheels to say 17's or 18's, how do I compensate for the difference in height with different tires?

Or are the tires the same height, just narrower sidewall?

I'd like to put a bigger wheel on with a larger tire.... I don't want 18's with rubberbands that have such a small sidewall, you can feel every bump in the road.

Thoughts?

Thanks,

Mark

Well.............if your going to go up or down in size (+1 or -1) then you do the opposite in tire sidewall. Assuming your trying to keep the overall tire size...

Here's a good link to play around with:

http://www.rims-n-tires.com/rt_specs.jsp

Enter your stock info on the left and optional info on the other side, scroll down to see the diff results.
