ALTA Rear Sway Bar

I just had the ALTA 22mm rear sway bar installed on my 08 Clubman S. It is currently set to the middle hole and as I drove it home yesterday (120 miles) I could feel the difference straight away. Actually I noticed in the first corner I took, next was the 270-degree on-ramp. Rear sway bar is a must for anyone that wants to do suspension mods.

If you are anywhere near Central California, go see Steve at Custom Mini Shop. To find a MINI mechanic who is an owner and enthusiast will save you money down the road. Not to mention the confidence that he will treat your vehicle with the attention that it deserves.

Thanks Custom Mini Shop & ALTA

P.S. Hey ALTA, when will you have an exhaust kit for the 08 Clubman S

Custom MINI Shop is in Fresno, right?

You didn't find the 22mm too much for street driving? Did it affect ride comfort in a straight line? Have you tried it on a curve with a rough surface? How does that compare to the stock suspension?

Yes, Custom Mini Shop in Fresno. Steve (SRTech) is Awesome.
The comfort of regular or straight driving felt tighter, not necessarily stiff, just tight. I drove on a few on/off ramps to get a feel for tight curves, not just right turns, and it was fantastic. Definitely tamed the understeer. A couple of the ramps were pretty choppy (potholes, cracked pavement, etc.) but it stuck pretty good. When you are going over rougher terrain you can definitely feel the stiffness. Again, I am on the middle setting, not the stiffest. I will drive with this setting for maybe a thousand miles and see if it is where I will keep it.

I was originally gonna go with the H Sport 25mm Comp bar, but I didn't need the lighter weight and I don't track the car, so I didn't see the reason for the extra stiffness. A rear sway mod is very dependent on your personal driving conditions and habits. Is weight an issue? Will you track or AutoX?

Good luck.

HELP!
I have read a ton on here regarding "drops".

I have had my 08 MCS for two weeks. My plan is/was to put on Eibach Pros only. From what I have read the 19mm sway may be a good idea to do while we are under there. I do not track. Just spirited driving out in the boonies on Sunday mornings.

Is the combo the way to go? Or will just the springs satisfy my DD w/o any "bad" camber effects? My former BMW mechanic want's to do the install.
The sways contribution to lessening under-steer sounds great.

Thanks and great info on air pressure. I did not know that.
