Ireland Adjustable Camber Plate (street) Instructions?

I purchased a set of Ireland camber plates a while back and I might install these with H&R coilover this weekend. I do understand the basics but I just cannot tell which side is which (Left , Right) and in what way do I have to attach the top plate to the aluminum blocks. Urghh

here is a picture of the plates (borrowed from anotheR NAM member)

Can anyone determine which one is left and which ones right?

Thanks in advance.

just taking a guess here but i think the one on the left is for the driver's (US) side. goal is for negative camber so the strut would have to move in towards the engine bay

Now, anyone know the way to attach the aluminum block?
they are not symmetrical so I believe one side must face towards the car and vise versa....

Also, which holes should I use for the plate bolts? 4 holes? skip 1 hole? etc?

I too am installing these plates this weekend, and from what I've been told by both Detroit Tuned and Texas Sperwerks is that when you go to attatch the plate the "guides" for adjustment should appear to be paralelle with the engine, if they appear to point toward the windshield they are backwards. And remeber two spacer underneth the bearing and one on the top to prevent binding.

I installed Koni sports with Ireland adjustable top mounts, the mechanic put 2 spacera under the bearing and one on top, is this right?

Also, i have a problem. Even though the alignent seemed good, i have a stronf pull to the right, and i have to hold the steering to the left to go str8.

Any ideas what may be wrong?

Something is not right, take it back to the shop that did the work and have it checked. One spacer on top and two on the bottom. Shouldn't pull at all. Then get a new 4 wheel alignment with you in the drivers seat.

Ok, so where do those six spacers go? There are three with each top mount. And also, my mechanic removed those thin metal sleeves from within the bearing, whith these on the Shock piston couldn't go through the bearing. Is this right or he messed up everything?

What is the build date of your MINI?

NOTE from both our websites, "Note: These plates do not fit early chassis (before 04/2002) due to the upper strut bearing being different"

My MC is 01/2002 build date, but for my good luck it came from the factory with the anti roll bar end links attacked on the body of the shock, not on the spring seat. Even if it was the older version, with the end links attached on the spring seat, it has nothing to do since i use Konis for 04/2002 and after shocks.

About the alignent, it's not the driver weight the case. If it was this, when i put a codriver in last night, it shouldn't pull

OK, if it was me, I'd take it all apart and look for the mistake, then put it back together. I have called two of my tech reps and based on the above info, we don't know what it could be, unless there was a mistake during install. The reason I encourage owners to be in the MINI for alignment is an issue of rear camber not front. Larger guys like me throw out the rear chamber when we sit in a MINI. Guess I should skip the DQ Drive thru.

I really apreciate your help, i think i'll do what you suggest soon. But could you please tell me where do those six spacers go? And why the sleeves had to be removed from inside the bearings?

Another guy posted above, and said he installed two spacers under the bearing and one on top too.

Because IE is a race shop, that happens to sell parts to others. They assume that you know what you are doing, or have a hired man doing the work.

I however do not assume that and will do whatever I can to help. NAM is a great place to find install help and tips. If I had the time and cash to make install sheets or videos for all the parts I have on line I would.

Two spacers on the bottom and one on top. The sleeves being removed may reduce the life of the bearing, but it's unknown at this time.

And if someone wants to replace the bearings, do we know the price? Ireland mentions the the bearings are replaceable!

Look closely at the sleeves, there might be a burr that is preventing them from fitting over the strut shaft. I had this problem with mine, Ireland gladly sent me another set of sleeves for free that were just as bad as the first set. Once I removed the burrs, the sleeve would then fit over the strut shaft.

The bearing Ireland uses is a standard Aurora spherical bearing. Off hand I think it's a COM-12t, which is a 3/4" bearing with a teflon liner. A quick google led me to this
http://www.bsrproducts.com/product_i...96e15337a73a8d

Looks like $16.25 each. I have no experience with that company, that link is "for reference only".......Be sure to double check that part number also, the part number is stamped on the bearing itself, you can see it when the camber plate is disassembled.

With the sleeves removed, you are going to have a lot of slop in there. I would think this would beat up the strut shaft pretty bad over time, not to mention clunk like mad.

Maybe those of you who have installed the IE plates could do a write up on the proper install. I know it would help alot of people.
