qwik question

hey everyone..

i just got my M7 STB! and i have mushrooming both left and right... to get it flatten do i need to take off the struts then pound it with woo/hammer or i can just jack it up and just unbolt it then wood/hammer it! what should i do? is it dangerous to intsall the bar when its not really flat?

I would recommend jacking the car up and dropping the struts down out of the towers... Then, massage liberally with a hunk of 2x4 and a BFH.

That werks, , as well. What I have done on 3 MINIs now is jack up and pound with a 2X4 and a heavy rubber hammer. Cover the 2X4 with a cloth and go at it.

justjay : did remove the struts?! or u just pounded with the struts and bolts still intact?!?!

is it dangerous to not have it flattened and installed?!?

Well...just to let you know..I had my 3-series' left tower replaced (3'' deviation) to the cost of $6K....so good luck with whatever you decide...

I would remove the struts, personally. Or, at least remove the bolts and drop them down into the towers...

Yes, just remove the nuts and jack the car up. the struts will fall down out of the tower as you jack up the car.

Then pound flat. It helps to have a friend to guide the struts in/out.

yeh kk i will drop the struts! do i need to remove the wheels? all i need to do to drop the struts is remove the top 3 bolts and it will drop or is there anything else i need to unbolt?
