Take off the bottom 2 lockrings, and thread the body alll the way down into the bottom mount. Then, lower the last(largest) lockring down until it stops on the lower shock mount body.

I've already threaded the body all the way down into the bottom mount, looking at the pic it shows the amount of threads showing below the locking collar is the same distance as the bottom mount. it will not thread any farther into the bottom mount...trust me

for the second part of what you describe...lowering the top (large) collar down...thats what I may try...but that starts reducing, possibly even completely undoing any amount of preload on the spring.

...not sure how much that could possibly get...but also have read where many have run into lots of clanging spring noises from there being vertical slack in spring movement when car raises over bumps and suspension droops.

Yes, it will eliminate the springs' preload. It will be how you get lower though. You can also try to use shorter springs with helper springs on them. You can source some quality ones from swift.

Megan recommends ZERO preload. http://www.meganracing.com/tech/inst...ing%20pre-load

If you go less than ZERO you shorten piston travel and risk bottoming out thus damaging the shock.

What does the bottom of the coilover look like when you unscrewed the lower mount all the way out? Is the threaded area hollow? If so you can prob cut it down some?

...that was one of my first thoughts for the quickest most obvious way to get it lower...but it looks like an area that shouldn't be messed with:

I can't remember... I'm sure I could find out somehow if you were interested as he's probably local. (local car show)

Oh no worries just seein if you knew off hand. On another note though, it's gotta be torture not having your wheels anymore . LM's are so perfect for minis. Any plans of returning to the same wheel or something similar when the opportunity presents itself? I'm on RG-R's right now; they're gorgeous but don't have the offset & lip combo I need for the stanced look. As I mentioned I'd love to go with a set of TH-Lines but I don't have another 3k to drop on wheels at the moment lol. Plus, once you go BBS it's so hard to go with anything else. Love your car though

I am definitely getting another set of nice wheels - soon. As I said earlier, definitely regret selling mine and not really sure why I did it. Got offered a pretty good amount of money and I needed money at the time for college and because I wanted to focus on the performance aspect of the car rather than making it just look pretty. Now I've done performance, (except tune, that is very soon >:D ), and I want to go back to making it pretty.

I agree on the BBS comment, hard to go to anything else once you've had them. Post pics up of your car, I want to see these wheels on your car.

Will do. Lemme gather some together here, I'll post up in the next hour. And yeah, it so hard to divide money between performance and prettiness lol.

Still only on springs, in the process of saving up for coilovers. I love these wheels more every day though.

I LOVE those wheels! Such a nice finish. Car looks great. Did you take the whole lower grill out or cut it? I am considering taking my lower grill out with my larger intercooler installed now.

Thanks man. It took me a good 6 months to pick them haha. Printed out about 20 options from tirerack as displayed on the car, day by day I eliminated options and settled on these. Once I got that far it was another few weeks to pick the finish lol.

The grille is just taken out at the moment, I'm planning on cutting it myself to where the radiator and piping bits are covered on the sides. The only issue with the Helix FMIC is it's off-centered so I have to tailor it to that. Luckily I happen to have two lower front grilles so if I mess up the first one I'm not screwed .

For some, the grille-less look is a bit ricey or flashy, but I love it. You get a ton of Sti's, audis and vw's jaw droppin lol.

Yeah, that's what I was wondering- if it would be ricey or not. But who knows, I may end up doing it... I think it looks good on your car.

DRT - great looking clubbie. That first pic is real nice. No need to apologize for whoring. I think we're all guilty of that from time to time - me especially!

See? I can't see dropping the $$$ for coils on my straight Cooper, but I'm very happy with the way he sits on H&R's.

ya Albie. that looks great! i wouldnt worry about coils either with just the straight cooper. although if you ever do decide to go with coils, the h&r street performance are AMAZING and not too pricey. thanks for the kind words. your mini looks super clean!

..based on stuff you've done with your Cooper...periodic wheel changes...etc, and fact that you have plate "MINICRZY" ...I'm bettin' by next spring we'll be hearing about the addition of a nice set of adjustable coilovers...

..especially as those stock dampers wear down
