I think you mean 205/45/17. Are you sure these are 45 series tires?

Quote: A question for everyone: Has anyone cut the metal in the fender to prevent rubbing? How did you cut it? Any pictures of the finished product? Also, will more negative camber help prevent rubbing? Im pretty sure it does, but just making sure before I buy things to give me more camber.
Picking the right tires would of helped you..... Take a dremel to the metal behind the plastic arch that should do you, and make sure you bend the now sharp lip outwards so it doesnt cut into your tire. Some rear control arms would would be needed to add the camber you need to clear the arch. There is a picture out there somewhere.

Here is my car after driving a week to let the springs settle. TSW springs on OEM cooper S shocks. I cut a 1/4 coil off of the front springs, because the front looked higher than the rear (fender gap). Tires are 205/45R17. I am using the shorter bump stops from WMW, and the car rides nice, feels much better than the stock sport springs. To me the car does not look lowered, but looks like it should have from the factory. I saw the post of the white MINI with the swift springs, he looks lower than my setup. I have a set of NM's to compare, but I am done pulling shocks for a couple of months....

I think that this is a nice daily driver setup, and am quite happy.

^^That's plenty low for a dd. Looks about like mine does. I've got
to get some better pics before I post, however my sig does have it in the lowered position but it's hard to see.
Anyway, I like what you did.

Dr, I looked at the picture that you posted in the Megan thread. My car is about 25" to the bottom of the wheel arch, about 1/2" higher than yours. I like your square exhaust tip, and lots of the details on Nimbley. Well done.

The fronts are 16x9 the rears are 16x9.5 205/40/16 front and 215/40/16 rear the offset not sure these are weird wheels you can't mount them with out the adapters they come with so like when you order them they make the adapter to your liking it's pretty much the hub of the wheel

Maybe this is the wrong place to ask so please forgive me, but with all the dropped/lowered/stanced and dare I even say sexy minis on this thread... how much scraping goes on when you drop your mini. I scrape enough at stock height.

Also. Would lowering my mini reduce normal wear and tear on my tires? Not really enjoying paying for run flats at the moment.

You learn to drive differently. You take driveways at an angle and slow down at dips in the road. Same with speed bumps...you learn to go over them smoothly so you don't compress the suspension and bottom out. I try to avoid them as much as possible. My ride height is almost 2" lower than stock.

Lowering won't improve your tire wear. If you don't get them aligned you will have even worse tire wear.

Richard

Thanks for the reply. How much damage can actually be done with all the scraping and such? I love the look and Im sure lowered minis handle much better but I'm not one for scraping

MINIs don't need to be lowered to improve handling but they certainly look better standing still!

I scrape the bottom of my JCW aerokit bumper and sometimes my Magnaflow exhaust if backing down a steep driveway. Unless you dump it you risk damaging cosmetics only. I've ripped off the plastic trim on the bumper when it got caught on some broken concrete outside of a driveway but I snapped it back in place.

I'll think about it. I'm so paranoid about modding my car as I'm only 21 and this is my only car. I already worry too much about about tires/clutch/oil enough as it is lol.
