Just talked to MINICORSA who sells the CROSS......the megans offer the same lowering adjustment technique as do the other ones i listed...

huh....sounds like you're doing it right. As long as you aren't trying to adjust the spring perch to lower.

And you don't have overly small tires. When did you buy the megans? Maybe it's the new springs they installed? The newer springs don't let you lower as much.

I'm picking up my CROSS COILOVERS today!!! They can be dropped to the ground and still have full travel. They adjust from the spring perch but also the strut itself can be adjusted from the bottom. They are the best Street/track coilover system I have seen. They come with camber plates and 14 adjustments.
They arent the cheapest but they are well worth the $2400.
I will post pix of my install this weekend.

I have Megan type coilovers, well, from the same company that makes the Megans. I got mine on Ebay for a lot cheaper. They are made by the same company in Korea. As far as I can remember they were adjustable for a 1-3" drop. I think 3" would have the whole car sitting on the ground, forget about putting the fenders on the tires.......

Mine are the same way. You can adjust the strut from the bottom, but requires you to take the strut out, or you can adjust it from the bottom of the spring.

yah we've discussed this....the CROSS's ability is also seen in many of the other coilovers as well. It seems that the only difference between the megans (or the other similar brands) and the CROSS is possibly the quality of the strut itself, the megans having more levels of damping adjustment....and obviously the price. Otherwise, they both offer a coilover that is height adjustable independent of the perch, offers damping adjustment (15 for the cross 32 for the megans, 36 for the ksports), includes camber plates, and can offer on-car damping adjustments if you are willing to drill the hole.

They seem to be a similar setup......the Cross might offer slightly better quality....but it hasn't been proven or tested yet.

ehhh I'm not a big fan of sidewall that large You sure you can't get by on the 205/50's? You're not hitting anything too important...its probably the plastic drop-down lip

Yeah it def is that little lip. That little lip is scrapped to hell and back, LOL.

I am just way too paranoid about hitting a nasty pot hole and cracking my oil pan or worse...plus I think the 255 will fill the wheel well to the max.......

yah...we're lucky in that our oil pans are pretty well recessed compared to some cars that lose oil pans left and right when slammed. We're pretty safe. Just check under your car and see for yourself.

you will also be surprised how little you scrape if you remove that lip. I just trimmed mine as it was dragging....and i havent scraped since.

I think the 205/55's wouldnt be that bad as long as you stick with your ride height

Having recieved a rather aggressive PM from a vendor, i should state that i myself have never had CROSS coilovers and haven't done my own testing, just asked one of the other vendors that sells and promotes CROSS. I also didn't mean to sound like i was knocking/bashing them(if anyone felt that way)....I simply meant that in terms of a slammed ride (extreme ride height adjustments) the Cross and other coilovers listed offer the height adjustment independent of the spring perch. I'm sure the CROSS coilovers perform very well.

It is important to point to the topic of the thread however and note that this is about slamming for street driving.....none of this conversation is about shaving seconds off your track time and how coilovers compare on the track.

And ACE...definitely keep me posted. Always like to hear about lowered rides on 15s

Will do pal. Lowered on 15's is the only way to go. I actually downsized from 17's. Wish I did it from the start........

Like what you have now...what type rim?

I have some DRAG DR16...

Can't go wrong for $300 for a set of 4........

You can almost see that I have like 1" clearance in the front.

Thinking about going for the RED model when/if I go 205/55/15...

I have the TXWerks Sport suspension. With it one can lower ones MINI about 2 1/2 inches, probably 2 3/4 inches. I had mine down 2 1/2 inches for a weekend and the suspension ssemed to have plenty of travel. The rear tires looked like crap though (I don't have adjustable links yet) so I raised it back to where I normally keep it, about 1 inch lower than stock.

I'll take a picture the next time I have my wheel off. My understanding is this... CROSS coilovers are the only coilovers that maintain 100% damper travel at any degree of lowering. As you lower the megans, the shock has less and less travel. The lower bracket actually moves up and down on the CROSS coilovers. The spring maintains the same amount of pretension and gap from the strut mount no matter what what height they're set to.

Here's a picture from JIC Magic's website

I don't have a high res picture of the megan coilovers, but it appears that as you lower the car (Bring the spring perches up) the springs are compressed, and the dampers have less travel.

If i'm looking at this the wrong way, let me know .

The coilovers i listed have heigh adjustbality independent of the spring perch....which is exactly how the CROSS's are described on the DMH site:
