Suspension Wheel Alignment - factory adjustments
Wheel Alignment - factory adjustments
Hey guys,
This will be an easy one for you but I don't see an existing thread out there. After installing some lowering springs on my 03MCS I thought it may be a good idea to get an alignment done. It appears that the rears have excessive negative camber which is wearing the inside shoulder of the tires. For one, the shop said it wouldn't be worthwhile to do the front since he thought one of the wheel bearings had excessive play so I will have to replace those first I guess. Also, it appeared the rear wheels had no provision for adjustment. Can anyone confirm for me, for the front and rear wheels, what factory adjustments exist for camber, toe-in etc. And if no adjustment available, what do I need to install to make it adjustable? Any recommendations for a daily aggressive street driver?
Thanks,
Brenden

lower control arms allow you to adjust your camber highly. your stock suspension can only camber so much.

toe'ing in will help you save some tire wear also. dont toe in too much though. a small amount like 1degree or so should be ok

You can adjust the toe up front.
The early cars don't have much adjustability. The only way to change camber up front is to add camber plates - adjustable or fixed. The Ireland Engineering fixed camber plates will put you in the -1.7 to -2.0 range.
In the rear, adding adjustable lower control arms will allow you to adjust camber. Adding lower and upper control arms will allow you to adjust camber and toe in the rear.
Oh, BTW, this thread should be in the 1st generation/R53 mods forum.
