R56 EIBACH SPRINGS

Had them on the phone today and they are working on the R56 prototypes. Said to check again on september. Used their springs before and consider them top notch.

Have to agree with you. I put H&Rs on, but would prefer the Eibachs. In past applications, I found them to be less harsh on initial deflection, but they tightened up very quickly.

Just saw they've been added to tirerack's catalog.
1.2" drop vs. 1.4" for the H&R's, it'd be nice to know how they compare ride-wise to the Mach V's

Awesome, the more options the better! Especially since they're right around the same price range as H&R and Mach V. Also interesting that they're the slightest bit higher than the Mach V's, which in turn are higher than the H&R's.

Who's gonna be the first to order a set and post some feedback!?!

hello, I live in France, the time change, I am the next day

I have make the spring to my R56, 2 hours and very good (I have make JCW spring for my R53 last year, no problem....)

I have drive 3 minutes and I have very happy from the comportement,
this is complicated to describe the sensations, the chassis becomes hard not to be a skate board, springs JCW seem harder still on the R53, but it is difficult to compare. I need to ride longer to tell you my feelings.

Side view, it's great. She is finally at a height correct, without trainer on the floor, superb vision results

^^ Looks sweet and love your MINI's color combination.

minicobra1: Looking forward to your opinions on them. I'll be ordering a set of lowering springs within the next two weeks and need to decide between H&R, Mach V or Eibach! I'll likely be ordering from JSC as well since they're local to me.

Oh and you'll love the ALTA bar. What made you decide on the rear control arms. Want to dial in some negative/positive camber?

Ordered a set today from tirerack through our parts dept.
they're special order, I was told ~1.5-2 weeks for delivery, which should get them here a few days after our Mini.
I haven't had much luck with H&R in the past & I've never had a complaint with Eibach springs yet. H&R's tend to be too low & too soft.

Interesting. I've heard of the H&R's being too low, but never too soft. It seems that complaint has been reserved for the Mach V's. Looking forward to you guys' opinions. Hopefully it'll make my choice a lot easier.

I'm surprised there hasn't been any talk of Spax springs yet, they're British like the Mini. I had a set on my turbo sprint (picture in my sig) & they were awesome. I'm not sure if there are any north american distributors 'tho.

I will post some pics and a review after they are installed next weekend.

I order the control arms for 3 reasons, They are a little stiffer, I thought that I might need to adjust some negative camber out, and they look hot
After seeing pics of the laser blue, I'm beginning to think that I may not need them to get the camber back. I think I was reading to many post on the H&R's, looks like they have a little more drop and people were having some issues of getting the camber back to stock. Oh well, they were only $220 so I'll just have to go with they look cool

Here is the car I saw them on, he also has the M7 Coilovers, which I almost went with, but I'm saving my money for a Turbo upgrade, either Alta or whoever comes up with something that will bump the HP to 225+

BTW: I've had Eibachs on 2 other cars and really loved the ride, so I'm hoping this will be the same. They make a really high quality product with consistent quality control for exact spring rates and also have a million mile warranty

Eibach springs available

They're available now, talk to Rich@JSCSpeed.com (215-643-5750) for a bang-up deal.

Got them installed on Saturday and took her up to the mountains on Sunday to give it a thorough testing.

This is what was installed:

Eibach pro springs
Eibach adjustable rear control arms
Adjustable front camber plates
Alta 19mm bar (set on medium)

Installed by Danny at Mini Corsa www.minicorsa.com (Great job & fast!!)

My initial impression was the car felt about as smooth as stock, almost more supple over the small road imperfections. Medium bumps not bad, then a big one, oops!! ok now I feel the difference LOL. but still not punishing. I would say about 25% stiffer then stock.
I decided to take the canyon route over to Hollywood from Van Nuys, to give the suspension the true test. I took the first left handed sweeper and was amazed at how the car handled , it felt like someone was pushing down on the rear end, it stuck like glue!! I'm attributing most of this to the larger rear sway bar and control arms, but I'm sure the stiffer springs help too I couldn't get enough of the twisties, so today I took her up to Angeles Crest Hwy, a nice 25 mile road up the backside to Mt. Wilson. It was awesome once I learned the limitations to the car, which probably hadn't been reached, but was enough for me.

Other things that improved were less squat when accelerating WOT, and I was amazed that torque steer was also reduced, I would say almost 50%.

All in all I drove about 150 miles today in almost every road condition and on several different freeways. I'm very happy with the way the car is handling. There were some freeways that have the chopped block type sections, it was a little bumpy and a slight bounce on those, but like I said previously, maybe only about 25% more. On some of the bigger hits I think it could use a little more rebound damping, I can live with it for now, but I will most likely replace the stock struts with some Koni Yellow adjustables or Eibachs if they come out with one first. I'm running the stock shocks, I didn't get the sport shock upgrade when I ordered the car.
My tires are Kumho 215/45/17's set at 38psi.

Best of all, the car doesn't have that ugly wheel gap anymore, I think it dropped it by about 1.2 inches.

I think would have adequately answered your damping/rebound issue. Thanks for the writeup!

Alignment shop?

Anyone on here know of a pro alignment shop in so cal area that are familiar with Mini's?

I haven't had it checked since installing the suspension goodies. The car actually feels pretty good and doesn't seam to pull one way or the other, but Im thinking it would be a good Idea just to have it checked.

Thanks

I have gone to West End in Gardena (18008 S Vermont Ave, Gardena, CA 90248 (310 808-9233) for the last couple years. He has done my Porsches, Audis, and VWs. He just put the Mach V srpings on and aligned the Mini.

He is a one man shop and is well respected in the race community. It takes at least 2 weeks to get an appointment to see him. I drive 55 miles one was; well worth the drive.

Thumbs up for Darren @ West End. He did my race spec '05 M3 competition. However, he is always booked. I will be taking my MCS to Huntington tires/alignment in Monrovia. Ireland engineering recommended them.

Good luck..
