help in STX
I have looked thought all the treads I could fine. I have always had a rwd car for autox. I took my 05 mcs out to my last event and it was great.. The fastest fwd car and I spanked the others in my class, but I want more. I currently have a 23mm rear sway, r&r springs with koni shocks, 17x7 DR 1.2 rims with bfg g-force and ic sprayer. Besides lighter rims and better tires what do you recommend. There are no other minis near to help out. And the main guys in my region all have mx5 and s2000 so they aren't much help. Any help would be great..

sounds like it might be enough for now - except for the tires of course...
you kind of said 'no tire suggestions' in your original post - what's up with the rubber may I ask?
how does the car feel to you? does it turn as hard as you ask? does it understeer? does the rear end chase the front?
and by the way - thanks for posting in the STX subforum! i've felt like a troll under the bridge here for quite some time...
kinda thought i might be the only SCCA STX Mini in town...
Solo is fun isn't it...

just for reference, I too had to do a fair bit of work to get "on demand" oversteer...
H&R coil overs - installed with about 1.5" of drop
Webb camber plates - running -2.5 degree front camber
H&R rear sway bar
Hotchkis lower control arms - running -1.0 degree rear camber
with this setup - corner weighted - i can dial in oversteer with tire pressures on the back axle
using Dunlops (YMMV of course)
Front: street 36 racing 40
Rear: street 36 racing anywhere between 46 and 52 depending in course

The reason for 'no tire suggestions' was b/c I can't drive on the streets with race rubber. I use my time on the track to improve my street driving as well as my track driving. I have what you call a "heavy foot"lol I run the car at full stiff for everything and a tire pressure or 25f and 30r all the time.. I even use my drive to work to improve, never enough seat time.
I would like to be more of a threat to the mx5,s2000 and sti that come out. The fastest time so far is only about 3 seconds faster. Our track is small and quick, so I think I have a chance. So what do you guys think? What should I get? bbk, endlinks, upper rear cross bar, stuff like that? Anything to knock off a second or two?

In STX, you are only running streetable rubber anyways; I run on Dunlop Direzza Star Specs....highly recommended tire. What are your times compared to the others? 3 seconds is a lot of time. You don't need a BBK or anything else...just time behind the wheel of your Mini.
Also, are you saying you run 25 PSI in the front and 30 PSI in the rear? That's awfully low.

Camber plates in the front and a good alignment would shave a LOT of time off, as would some RE-01R's or the like for rubber. I'd say you could pick up 2 seconds quite handily once you get used to it. With more seat time, post mods, you'll get a bit quicker than that...
My suggested alignment?
-2.5 degrees camber front
-1.5 camber rear
0 toe front or slight toe OUT (no more than 1/16" total toe OUT)
0 toe rear if you go with slight toe OUT in front, else if you go with 0 toe, slight toe IN for the rear (no more than 1/8" total toe IN)
As far as toe goes, it depends on the course - if you run at places with tighter courses and a smallish lot, I'd go with slight toe OUT in the front and neutral (0) toe in the rear. If you have longer, faster courses (like we run with our BMWCCA chapter), I'd go with neutral (0) toe in front and slight toe in for the rear - we sometimes see 85+ MPH in straights on our courses and there are usually some VERY fast sweepers.
I can get our Cooper and our S to do nice, lurid 4-wheel drifts with this setup - fast transitions, wicked sharp turn-in, and LOTS of cornering grip (to the tune of 1.2 G's on Hankook RS-2's).
In other words, suspension, suspension, suspension and tires.
You'll have to play with the Koni settings - I'd start with mid adjustment in the rear and 3/4 stiff in front and go from there.
