I also have a 1/07 MCS and I can't get mine to budge either.

Carl, ours is Astro Black also. In fact looking at your sig, they seem almost identical. Twins, separated at birth!

Ok - an update.

Its come to light that there was a 9May memo addressing the MFSW retro-fit (as some of the cars that were early builds had the order botched and were built without the MFSW). Of course when my car goes in to have this done they will be opening up the dash, etc to put the new harness in, and I would really like to have the dash storage done at the same time.

So I was back on the phone to AskMini today to push again for the Dash Storage retrofit kit.

FWIW it would be useful for everybody who is affected by this to start calling and making their dissatisfaction known. Ask Mini is 866-275-6464

I got my car March 10th (MCS) and i have the compartment (not rattle)

 

i have one, build 4/21 and honestly dont even use it. i wouldnt worry about it if you guys dont have it. not a big deal. its cool, but not very functional.

 

It's perfect for a wallet and such on the road... and it's just a cool little feature we want.

 

Add me to the list without the compartment.....I also have the squealing clutch problem as well....

 

I got my car in February. It has no door and no jack. :(

On the other hand, somehow my car got electric folding mirrors I didn't order. So...I didn't pay for those.

There are a good number of us without the storage box. I'll encourage you all again to call Ask Mini and press them for the parts.

Dan - it seems the jack and the storage box were both in the same time frame. My dealer ended up providing one so don't be afraid to ask. If they dig in their heels add it to your defect list when you call Ask Mini.

 

Took mine in on thurs. to have rattles and some other things fixed. Was told they do not have the parts for the storage box yet and will most likely put a screw in to stop the bad rattle??

 

Apparently the retrofit parts are now available and mines being done this week. I'll post again when I get the car back.

 

I spoke to AskMini again yesterday, 29May, and they knew nothing. BritBoy says today they acknowledged a retrofit kit.

A good sign. Everybody call in to confirm!

If it is this new then likely the dealers do not know yet. The next step is getting the word out to the dealers so they can get our kits, and fix our cars.

Mine is a Jan 07 build and secret compartment no workie.

 

Update:parts are in and the glovebox should be fully functional tomorrow, (if the new clutch fixes the 2nd gear squeal problem). I'll issue a further update if I get the car back.

 

BritBoy, can you get a bulliten or part number for the update parts? Since my car is living at the dealer they may as well do this also.

 

I just spoke to AskMini again an hour ago. I spoke to the customer rep supervisor, and she scanned the list of Bulletins and said there was none for the Dash Storage yet. If you have a number, yahoo, lets hear it.

Nobody is paying attention to this as the LSD and MC issues are taking all their attention, as it should. But this issue is only with early build cars, and they are rapidly becoming used cars! I just want to put this to bed!

 

Just spoke to my tech rep and after he told me they have a 3rd order in waiting for parts to install my MFSW, I asked him about the compartment. He said they have a couple of people waiting and they scan each day for something on this but nothing as of yet.

What is the LSD issue? Is there a thread here on that?
