does anyone have problems with their auxilary port? my friend's r56 is only playing music on one side of the car and he's had his cable switched out 3 times..

It could be a mono cable. same thing happened to me, i went into radioshack and didn't bother to check to see if the cable was stereo. when i swaped it for a stereo cable everything worked like a charm.

 

Mine plays on one side of the car with a stereo cable.
It is a bad "auxillary jack" because the same setup works fine in another R56.

Going to talk to Mini about replacing the jack when I get the time.

 

I am having the same problem. it seems to be the Auxilary Port i bought used at MOTD swap meet is BAd.

I had a similar problem and changed the cord a couple times. It turned out to be a problem with my ipod. There was some kind of short in the headphone jack. I had it replaced under warranty (which was great by the way. i had a brand new ipod in about 2 days).
