New guy here. I am about to order my new mini, and I hear from a well-meaning relative who had an 02 mini that there is a problem with water getting in through the air intake. I searched the forums, and nothing here, though mini2 did have some posts from way back in 02. is this a known issue that has been resolved?

By the way, looking forward to a red cooper S, with black bonnet stripes, so please tell me i am worried about nothing!

 

don't worry i have yet to replace/fix anything related to that.

 

It has a lot to do with the driver. ANY car will have issues with water ingestion if the driver is a moron and drives through 16 inch deep puddles in his car. I have had 2 MINI's and haven't had any issues at all with water intake, nor have I heard of anything like that on these forums in my almost 2 years of being here.

Keep in mind, the MINI isn't that much lower than a number of other compact cars and sports cars. .

Did your "source" have an aftermarket intake, or the stock intake?
