Need to remove some parts

Hiya all,

Well, I need some help pretty please. Without going in to too many details, I need to remove the skid plate that is right below the battery compartment on an '06 MCS. The one just forward of the exhaust tips. I see there are 4 bolts holding it, I am wondering if i can just remove these 4 bolts to get it off the car? Or are there nuts in the battery compartment I need to be concerned with? Plus, the stock exhaust tips need to removed as well. Any suggestions?

Also the center exhaust hanger has been bent, should I replace it?

Here is the short story. Went on a road trip, hit a dead animal, and have to clean the bottom of my MINI extensively. Simple undercarriage wash aint gonna do it.

Here are some pics on my website, I didn't want to post nasty gross pics right here, nastiest after the jump

Pics of nastiness

Hope it wasn't a skunk you hit.

I believe the nuts are welded to the body. Just turn the bolts out & remove the plate. I don't know if the exhaust will be in the way or if you need to remove it.

The studs are welded to the body...turn off the 4 nuts and the skid plate comes right off. Just took mine off a few weeks ago to replace the exhaust system.

As far as the exhaust tips, they're welded to the pipe, I do believe. So, shy of a sawzal, I don't see getting those bad boys off.

the exhaust tips are held on with a regualr flat blade set screw. and the 4 nuts hold on the skid plate, they are 10mm, take them off and plate comes right off. as far as replacing the center exhaust hanger if it were me unless the exhaust is now not aligned proeprly i'd prolly just roll with the bent one. but it's up to you. i saw the pic and it doens't look like it is danger of falling off.
