As I was backing my '06 MCSC into the garage Wednesday night, I realized I never heard the back-up alarm sound. . . fortunately I realized it before I rammed my wife's car (our "garage" is 100+ year old carriage house, where we park back to back rather than side by side). Nothing last night either, so it appears dead. As anyone else had any problems with the back-up alarm?

Yes I did have that problem. Check the fuse, carefully. Mine had blown but I could not see the fuse wire melted. Replaced and it started working.

 

How long ago did that happen and did you ever find the cause of the blown fuse? I had a reply in the cabrio forum and another owner told me his did the same thing (blown fuse, back-up alarm quit), and eventually was traced to a power steering fan (I assume he meant radiator fan. . .), which had an electrical short, and shares the same circuit as the back-up alarm.

I'm due for the first scheduled service in about 600 miles, so I'll get the dealer to check it out either way, but the more I know ahead, the better.

No never looked for the problem just replaced and all was fine. If it had blown again... but it didn't.
