Concerned about window regulators during icey conditions?

I just got a new 06 BRG/B MCS last week and we had some ice and snow last night here. This morning when opening the door the glass is supposed to go down a 1/2 inch to clear the rain gutter. Well today the motor struggled and it did not move. This seems to be a problem with our over engineered German machines I would think. Anybody have any suggestions or Ideas for icer conditions. Can this window feature be turned off?

Run into the same on my '06. May sound silly... but I was thinking of spraying the lower rubber seal with armourall. The ice might not stick as much...

I scrape off the window (at minimum the bottom of the glass) before opening the door. But if you are one of those people who don't scrape your windows before driving...

I usually scrape, but I am thinking of the times when the care is like a glazed donut from freezing rain and you have to litterly use a chisel to crack it.

Yikes! And you need to drive in those conditions?
Just watch, the answer will be something like "I'm a fireman."

If I am stuck somewhere other than home for the night, right now the Cooper S is my daily driver "it is only 8 days old", Next fall I will look for a late 90's Subaru AWD fow a few grand for winter use.
