Manual transmission question, 06 MCS

I have a 2006 MCS with about 4000 miles on it and have the manual 6 speed. Does anybody else notice, (a bit hard to explain), that when shifting from 2nd. to 3rd. and 4th. to 5th. at higher RPM's, the shift handle seems to almost pop out of the previous gear into neutral, on the way to the higher gear. The transmission NEVER pops out of gear on its own, it's just a bit of a weird feeling when shifting into the aboved mentioned gears. When shifting at lower RPM's and shifting slowly, no strange feeling.

Any info will be appreciated.

Thanks, Gene

06 MCS w/ 6-speed manual and 11,000+ miles.

We have not noticed this on our car, though we did notice that it took us a while to get really smooth shifts. For us it was a timing thing between pressing the clutch pedal down, easing the accelerator pedal up, and moving the shifter. It sounds obvious, I know, but every car is different and what worked well on other cars you've driven may require some tweaking.

But if it persists, you should try to get another MCS owner to let you try their car, and vice versa to identify if there may be a mechanical problem. We had a similar problem years ago with a manual-transmission Volvo, and I had to get a mechanic at the dealer to drive our car and a similarly equipped Volvo back to back before they admitted there was a problem. In that case they had to replace the whole pedal assembly (clutch and brake) to fix it.

Good luck!

05 MCS 15k miles, I usually get that same feeling when shifting under WOT at 1st to 2nd gear. Shifter kinda feels like it wants to pop out.

I've actually never given it much thought and has never caused a problem. Just figured it was normal for this car.
