Need Help!! Stripped Oil Filter Bolt :(

Well i think im royally screwed and am looking for advice.

I removed my oil filter cap and changed the filter, oiled up the ring and changed that as well. put the drain plug back and and changed the oil. I then hand tightened the oil filer as much as i could then used the 36mm bolt and tightened it down. Now i did have some slipping but stopped and looked at the bolt and it was a crappy bolt. I just figured it was a little loose. Anyway, had everything done and started the car up, let it run for about 20 seconds and noticed that oil was pouring out of the car. I turned it off and realized it was all coming from the oil filter. I knew right away that it was stripped, after unscreing it sure enough it was. Now the oil filter threads along with the threads on the block are stipped. I am wondering first if the threads on the block are actually on the block or is it some sort of bracket that can be replaced. As well, im now going to need a new oil filter cover.\

Has anyone had this issue or any knowledge to what this will take to fix? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. :(

These pics may help you to figure out what needs to be replaced.

It looks as if im going to need parts 1 and 4, anyone have any idea what the run in price? I would call BMW today but they are closed, i am assuming they will be tomorrow as well because of the Hoilday. Thanks for the link though, this definitely makes me feel a little better, i was worried that it may be on the block itself

Don't be too hard on yourself or scared to do this the next time. Those threads are easy to strip. I have this on the Mini and our 5 Series. Need to thread by hand until you are confident it is straight.

another question i have is that if i even get these parts myself does anyone know if they can be replaced from the top without having to pull the motor? its a pretty tight squeeze down there, i know either way its nothing i will end up doing but its gonna be a pretty expensive repair if they have to pull it.

looks like part 1 is $153 for the MC (11427546619),
and $208 for the MCS (11427525955) and part 4 is $40 for either
(MC 11427514988 - MCS 11427509205)
(part #'s from realoem, $ from bmwmotorwerks).

THanks for the info Cristo,

I took it down to MiniWorks in Scottsdale AZ and am hoping its not going to be too expenisive to fix. I might have found the part cheaper through a member here if needed. Good to know those parts are not too pricey. Thanks for the help everyone!
