Changing Airfilter

Can anyone please let me know what size Torx bit is required to change the airfilter on my MCSCa? It appears that I need to remove a hose clamp and then remove two screws? Any other steps involved?

Being born with 5 thumbs and practically no spatial relationship skills when it comes to "under the hood" tasks, if anybody has a pictorial - even better!

Happy New Year from Hawaii

t20 torx.

just take off the hose and remove the two bolts then you have to pull it off the two clips that hold it in place. for that you will have to push towards the firewall.
good luck!

On my MCS witht he stick box it was 2 torx screws (20 sounds right) then a little wiggleing to get it off the top separates and pull the filter no need to mess with the hose in my experiance.

Of you're worried about the thumbs do it when you can take your time, don't rush yourself and it should go a little smoother.

(Joey is a mechanic so I'd trust his word)

(BTW Joey thanks for the tip on the hatch hinges, they were good but a little preventitive maint. was preformed and I'm keeping an eye on them now)

Mahalo to Joey1320 and Motor On!

I removed the hose, used a T20 screwdriver and changed the filter. You almost have to remove the hose to get the airbox back in place. The filter was pretty dirty (20K miles) and it's evident the dealer did not replace it during the first oil change.

Thanks again!

Those brown filters seem to get dirty extremely quickly, in 7k I had more dirt on there than anyother car gathered in 15k, fortunately I've upgraded my intake (rinse spray rinse dry oil and instal, $5 per clenaing million mile foam filter) and only ever use the stock box for comparison testing now.

Glad you got everything going again!

The first service is just an oil change. You don't get anything else for free (with the exception of wiper blades if you ask). In fact most of the free services are pretty much only oil changes. The dealer will probably be more then willing to replace the filter whenever you want (for a price of course) if you ask them.
