Twice in the last week, upon starting the car 1st thing in the morning, the SES light has come on and the car has gone into "limp home mode". Restarting the car got it out of limp mode, but the SES light stayed on for 4 or 5 more restarts. The car resides in a garage overnight, and I'm in Las Vegas, so it's not going below freezing.
I had the codes read last night and they were both P1684.
Can anyone tell me what that is?

 

Bentley Manual= P1684=electronic throttle control monitor level 2/3 clutch torque min error...

Whatever that means

 

Or,
According to AutoZones decoder, "metering oil pump temp sensor/ metering oil pump stepping motor sensor".

 

Go with the Bentley. Anything over p1000 is car specific in the MINI.

 

So what does it mean?

 

I would call the dealer...ask them since I have no idea!
