Leak around clutch
Leak around clutch
Well, after owning and loving my '03 MCS for a few months now. I pulled out of a parking spot and noticed a small wet spot on the ground. Took a look at it and it's a clear/transparent oil.
I got home and raised the car up to take a look. I peaked up and I've got a leak around the pitman arm that operates the throw out bearing. There is a white plastic bushing that rides along the shaft where it passes through the bell housing.
Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem? Also I dont think it's engine oil, because it's too clean/clear, and I thought these manual MCS 6sp tranny's used ATF?
Thanks for any info

the slave cylinder uses brake fluid, and that sounds like what it is. the trans fluid will be dark and has a smell to it. under warranty?

Thanks for the reply, but it's definately not brake fluid. Its too thick (viscous) to be brake fluid. Also it's not coming from the Slave cylinder.
If you look at how the slave cylinder is mounted, it actuates a pitman arm. This pitman arm is connected to a shaft that runs through the bell housing and moves the throw-out bearing.
The bushing just below the pitman arm is leaking. I will call and order this bushing to replace it, but I dont see what would be leaking around it. This bushing is just for friction when the clutchrod runs through the bell-housing. The bell-housing is full of air, so what's leaking out?
