I just noticed that my 02 Mini is leaking a few drops of a red fluid on my garage floor. Is this transaxle fluid? Anyone else have this problem?

 

Sounds like it's bleeding! I think it might be Power Assist Steering. Though I could be way wrong..

 

It may be transmission fluid. I noticed a red fluid coming from under the engine when I installed my skid plate. I took it in to the shop and they found a bad seal around the transmission, not sure exactly where but it was replaced under warranty.

 

I have a skid plate on mine also. Did the Mini dealer give you any problems when they had to take off the skid plate to replace the seal?

No, but that did happen to my mother one time in her 1984 Chevrolet. She started the engine and all hell broke loose under her engine compartment. Blood and flesh all over the engine compartment and one less stray cat.

something similar happened to my mom, except a snake got in there. iirc it was the neighbor's pet and was a boa or something of similar nature.
