I went to order from the local Mini dealer an alarm system for my 2002 Mini built the 1st half of 2002. I was told that only Mini's built AFTER Sept 1, 2002 could be retrofitted with the factory alarm system. What is that about?
The dealer then informed me he had no idea when Mini's built prior to Sept 1 will be able to accept an alarm system?
All help is appreciated. :???:

 

My MINI was built in July of 02 and has the factory alarm.

 

I think MINIs built after 09/02 has the alarmpre-wired and to be installed at the dealer.
Before that, MINIs had to be wired and installed at the factory if the customer ordered that option.

Somewhere on this site are the installation instruction for the non pre-wired alarm.
It has the complete part #'s and wire harness (RH or LH drive) and a schematic drawing of the alarm and its components.
It looks pretty labor intensive...mostly the main wire harness and the many branch wires to each components.

The MINI alarm can be done on your early build 02 MINI, with some patience and $$$$
