Dealer ECU Flash

I recently had my S in for service. Is it possible that they flashed the ECU without putting it on the ticket? All my OBC readings were reset (overall MPG etc.) but the radio memory presets were still there.

I did ask the SA about ECU updates when I dropped the car off and he said that when they hook the car up to the computer, it automatically flashes the ECU to the latest version. Is this true?

He was not there when I picked the car up, so I could not ask him if the ECU was flashed.

no it is not true that the computer automatically reflasehs the ecu. for the ecu to be refalsed you have to go into a completely system(Progman) than the one used to check for engine codes(GT1/DISmachine) and you have to setup the reflashing yourself.

why was the car in the dealership for?

They replaced the flywheel.

I thnk the OBC can get reset just by having the battery disconnected for awhile. Remember, this is not the same as the ECU. I make sure I tell the dealer I do not want any flashes (I have GIAC remapping, and don't want it written over).

I had this happen yesterday during an oil service. Caught me by surprise, luckily I have not had any tuner ECU mapping done. There has been a benefit, though, at 3k rpms in each gear, I am up 3 mph. The shift maps are taking a little to get used to but overall this was an improvement.

Plus. Mine no longer tries to stall when I start the car first thing in the morning.
