Yipee for cool weather and Redline SI-1!

This whole summer, I've been averaging about 32mpg OBC (=~29-30mpg in reality) on my MCS. It has been feeling a bit sluggish lately which I attribute to hot weather, an air filter that needs to be recharged (waiting for new Webb intake), and possibly a little degredation of the injectors. This past weekend, I filled up with the recommended dosage of SI-1 and after a trip back to my college, my OBC indicated mileage is over 35. I was running the sunroof and windows cracked open with the A/C off so I don't have any way of knowing how much of it was drag from the A/C compressor and how much of it was dirty injectors. Either way, I'm happy.

Fuel system cleaner, like Techron. Those are the only two I'd trust using.

I have been using techron for years, but decided to give Sea Foam a try...Noticable difference and at Idle smoother than before...There's crap in that gas we are using...

Oh ok... Yah, I've been using the Techron stuff every 3000 miles in almost every vehicle i've ever had. Sure does keep the gas mileage and performance where it needs to be! Especially helpful during summer when we get the watered down **** gas.

As a follow-up, I drove home this friday with the A/C on and still managed 35 mpg indicated. Even after a while sitting in traffic this weekend, it was still at 34.

I would love for someone to do a test with two identical cars.

The first car would never have any additional cleaners and after every 3,000 miles do a test on the injectors to see how they perform.

The second MINI would have addatives added every 3,000 miles and the same test done to the injectors.

In addition a comparison chart showing average fuel economy every 3,000 miles, assuming similar driving habits.

Any how I agree that the cleaners work. I just did it to my 30 year old 914 for the first time and everything is smoother from acceleration to RPM's at idle.
