The power steering on my 03 S has now gone out twice. Unlike the intermitent problems described in other chats, the power steering on mine stops working and does not return. The dealer has repaired this twice but I'm wondering if this is a common problem (or if there is something wrong with MY car).

other than being noisy and a need to protect the cooling fan, I haven't heard of any problems like you're describing! You may have a fluke issue; best of luck getting it solved!

Cheers,
Ryan

This just happened to my '03 'S". Yesterday everything was fine and this morning nothing! I checked the fuses and all were fine. It's at the dealer now and we'll see what they have to say. The service manager said he had only seen this 1 time before.

Friday and finally got a call from the dealer about my power steering pump problem. Guess what? the power steering pump is bad. This is the same thing I told them on Wed. afternoon. Guess what? now they have to order a power steering pump and it won't be here till Mon. I'm amazed at how people run their businesses. When I talked to the service mgr on Wed. I was told that they would look at it ASAP. I also told them the p.s. pump was out and asked if they had one in stock. The ser. mgr said he would look into it. I didn't know it would be 2 days later. So I'm out a car for 1 week while they get it together. I feel much better now after my rant.

The power steering on my ’03 MCS failed at 6500 miles. I just got it back from the dealer (they had it about 48 hours and gave me a rental car). The invoice says that it was an internal leak in the rack and that all of my fluid was in the steering boots. They replaced the entire steering rack. So far so good after 3 days.

I finally got my MCS back after 6 days!!!!! Apparently they replaced the p-steering pump and said that the connectors were all corroded and had to be cleaned and resealed. Funny, I live in Socal and I'm sure we don't get the rain and moisture that other people get around the USA. While the car was in I had them look into the sunroof rattles that occures with the sunroof popped open. They told me that because I had aftermarket exhaust (M-flow) and suspension (H-Sport/Madness) that the car was so stiff (Not) that they couldn't do anything about the rattles. Don't you just love these guys.
