Glovebox liner replaced... No more a/c vent?

Figure this one out, I had the glovebox liner replaced because it was rattleing like crazy but low and behold the little vent that you can open and close is gone

The dealer is insisting that its an updated part and they dont have that feature anymore, yet the didnt feel the need to tell me this, I only found this out a few months down the road when I went to put something in my 100 degree glovebox.

So I called BMW Canada, and am waiting for an asnwer because no one can find one. I would think if they remove a feature from the car they would tell you or give you the option of removing it. I would love it if I went in for service and they took my super charger off, "Ohh its an updated part, we removed it because it had poor gas mileage, at least now you'll save on gas"

This sucks! Your dealer whould have told you.

Go to your local dealer and check on a 2006 MINI... If it has it, this means your dealer screw the installation!

I have an 06 and my glovebox has the little vent to cool things off inside.

Your dealer screwed you. Our one month old 2006 has the cold air vent in the glovebox.

Believe me I checked, I went straight in to the showroom and checked if cars that literally just got off the truck had them in it, low and behold they did... so I dont know what kind of bs im getting fed but Im guessing that the diagram they have doesnt show them taking the a/c vent off of the old linear and installing it on the new one, knowing the "bright" mechanics they just assume throw everything out.

Its not just the dealer I can't get a straight answer from BMW Canada. The "nice" people there told me that if I dont like my dealer I should go somehwere else, they didnt even offer to find out why I'm unhappy. Ohh the closest dealer in Calgary is Edmonton which is just under 3 hours away, nice solution.

**UPDATE**

As per MINI Canada its an updated part where the glovebox is lockable.

Now I know everyone is thinking the exact same thing I am, what?? Yes its lockable now, I guess the version before you couldnt lock.... My guess that little spot where you could put the key in and turn only jammed the glovebox so it couldnt open, it really wasnt locking it, but a faulty glovebox.

Thank you MINI for fixing the problem.

Ohh and they also told me they reserve the right to remove features to make the car better. I really hope they dont remove my supercharge to improve the gas mileage.

Make sure they didn't remove the wheels to prevent accidents!

They forgot to install the vent with your new glovebox. You have to change over the solid piece with the vent when you replace the glove box.

My glove box jammed shut once on my 06 when i tried to lock it... the handle would pull out but it wouldn't open. The dealer replaced it with what they called an updated part.

The new part they put in still has the air vent.

gl with your glove box.
