Need Help with 05 S (interesting)

Hey Guy's,
My fiancee was driving to work a couple of days ago when the car had a major skip/hesitation/shaking. She was accellerating on an on ramp. She pulled off the road and the check engine soon light was on. She started the car to see what it would do. She started to drive and started to shake and shutter again so she called her father. He cam and drove the car home. He said it only stuttered twice. The next day I was going to take the car to Autozone to get the computer read (we are 1.5 hours away from a Mini dealer) but the check engine soon light was off an dthe car ran perfectly. I drove it around for a long time and nothing. We had a tone of rain lately and a lot the night before it happened so I figure some sort off a sensor got wet/moist and it had dried off. That was until this morning when it happened again. What makes it interesting is that it happened in the EXACT location on the same on-ramp.???
Any ideas...? Anyone had this happen and what should we do. Thankyou in advance for your time. Any info would be a great help.
THomas/Jessie

Do you have any ignition upgrades? If so pull your plugs and check them. This is what MINE looked like. I was getting a mis-fire code. Hope this helps -- Johan

The CEL (Check Engine Light) may be off, but the code will still be stored in the ECU for some time... I suggest you get to AutoZone and get the code scanned.

My guess...supercharger bypass valve. Is it an MCS? The symptoms she had were basically the same that would happen to me when my bypass valve would stick open.

Yes, its an 05 MCS. We had the code read and P1688 came up. Do I need to fix/adjust the bypass valve or get a new one? The car has no mods at all and its still under warrentee but we are 1.5 hours away from a dealer. I wonder if they would send the part? Probably not. I wonder if they will even take my word about P1688 code from autozone. HMMM...
Thanks,
Thomas

Haven't had time to go to/call the dealer yet. Discovered that this only happens over about 3000 rpms.

Definitely sounds like the bypass valve...I think some on here have replaced it themselves or have closed it off permanently, you could try searching and see what you come up with. Me...I took it to the dealer. The good news for you is that I believe they came out with a new part a few months ago...me I got the same (albeit new) exact part and was warned by my mechanic that it would most likely happen again at some point.

Is it safe to assume that this BPV issue only happens with an oem unit and not a modified BPV from Detroit Tuned?

same thing happened to me last week, the dealer changed the engine compartment wiring harness and the throttle body, the car runs fine now.
