New '06 MC at 1500 miles cut at stop light

On Aug 10 After having driven for about 40 minutes, I was at a stop light waiting for the light to turn green - car in drive, foot on brake, ac and radio on - when suddenly there was a slight sputter sound and the car cut off. After a few minutes, I put the car in park and it started up again. I drove the car home (about 10 minutes away) parked and called my MINI service dealer. Because I was reluctant to drive the car in for check of the problem, my service dealer (40 minutes away) sent a flat bed tow truck and towed the car in for service and arranged for me have a rental car at the expense of the service dealer. Today is Aug 17, so it has been 7 days since I've had access to my new MINI Cooper (purchased in April '06). The assistant service manager says "that there is a problem and that it will be resolved." Hopefully soon because I have made plans to drive to the Cape next weekend - an 8 hr drive from my home. I will report what the problem is and how it was resolved. Wish me luck!

"there is a problem and it will be resolved" sounds very cryptic in its straightforwardness! Obviously, there's a problem...what is it? They should have pulled some error codes to help pinpoint what happened/why the car suddenly died.

Hmmmm....

Yeah, you should be getting daily updates and know exactly what the issue is. I'd be calling the SA non-stop until they say what the problem is and have them give you updates daily. No need to be rude about it, but it makes them stay on top of things and keeps the issue from reoccuring or you waiting for your MINI and them delaying service, with regular updates the pretty much have to make daily progress unless they're waiting for a part.

I have an 06 MC that I got in April as well.....no problems so far! I have just over 3000 miles now though and looking at a cross country trip possibly in a week or so I hope! Good luck with yours and let us know what the outcome is for sure.
