Does your MINI shudder?

I've noticed lately that my '03 S shudders when I turn it off (probably doesn't like the idea of sitting still ) It seems to be every so often, not all the time. It does it with the AC running or not... but I have found that when I shut it down as I'm coasting to a stop, it doesn't seem to do it.

Also, sometimes when I turn the car off, it has this "knocking" sound. Is this normal?

My car has 85000 miles on it (bought it with 75000), and I haven't replaced plugs or anything of that sort. I do oil changes religiously, and had a 15% pulley and intake put on by Webb @ 82000 miles...

Thanks!!

Change the plugs, but I would say spark is likely not the problem. I would bet on a need to re-program the ECU, or use of bad gas or a timing problem. What octane do you use? Name Brand? How much ethanol, if any? Have you had a tune-up since the addition of the intake and pulley? Did you re-program the ECU to account for the reduced pulley and increased airflow?

I'm hoping it's the plugs as I would like to go with some aftermarket ones..

The gas I use religeously around here is Citgo (will soon be switching to BP), 93 Octane ( a couple of weeks ago, I about ran out of gas and had to throw 91 in it), I don't think Citgo has switched to an ethanol yet...I'm still running the stock ecu, and I don't know when it had the ecu update, if any at all.

Is there a way to check and see what version your car is running without having to take it to the dealer?

Thanks!
