I looked at a used Mini recently on a dealer's lot. (Not a Mini dealer, just a used car lot.)

When I opened the hatchback, everything looked okay. Just out of curiousity, I reached down and flipped up the carpet lining the cargo area.

There was a fair amount of water under the carpet. The car obviously hadn't been washed in a few days, so I don't think it was a problem where someone used a high pressure hose on it and blew past the door seal. This car did have a sunroof, so it must have been leaking from either the hatchback or the sunroof.

I asked the salesguy what the problem was. His reply...."Hey, it's an English car." Chuckle, chuckle.

The price was absolutely ridiculously high anyway, so I didn't bother to look any closer.

Maybe someone did not close the sun roof all the way one night?

I don't know.

Maybe this was the one MINI from that transporter that went belly up in the English Channel.

My cooper gets a few drops of water through the hatch after i wash it. Nothing too bad. This doesnt seem to happen when it rains.

That is an absolutly absurd thing for the salesman to say, what a MORON! He didn't deserve your business My guess that if the water was significant, someone didn't close the sunroof and it rained.

Good luck,
Ryan
