Best replacment air filter
Best replacment air filter
Ok, I have searched and searched but to no avail. All I can find is 300 threads about CAI's, HAI's AGS...BBQ....
So what resources are there to determine the best OEM replacement air filter? what are the opinions? Has any magazine actually tested all the brands to find the best?

That might help you in your decision.
Thanks, that is pretty good....It showed the diffrent types of filters. But my choice is kinda down to std drop in replacements. Napa gold seems to get some praise. But which brand is best? Fram, Stp, napa....etc? anyone have any more data?

Whether for the MC or MCS you can use-
The stock OEM air filter
K&N air filter (various vendors)
UniFilter (foam) via Webbmotorsports.com
Green Performance filter (piloracing.com and other vendors)
Doesn't really matter that much but the foam filter seems to work well.
The results from a performance standpoint isn't that much different between brands. A clean free flowing filter is better than a dirty one.
Good question...easy answer!

I dont want a K&N or other "performance" filter....as the link in the second post showed that those filters gain performance at the sacrifice of filtration.
I agree with the premise put forward by bob the oil guy -" I actually received an e-mail from K&N stating their filters filter within 99% of the OEM filters. This may be true, and 1% may not sound like much. I contend that 1% over many miles, may be important. Really, it is up to each individual to decide. The poorer flowing filters, remove more particles, and the better flowing filters remove less particles. If you think about it, that conclusion passes any and all common sense tests, so it is not surprising"
I would like this thread to focus on the very best OEM replacement product.

Has anyone else found any data or tests on air filters?

Id stay away from Fram filters. They have a good name but are junk. Napa has good filters. They are made by Wix filters, which are equally as good. STP filters are also budget filters, which usually means quality is sacrificed.
I changed my air filter on day one. I installed the ITG foam filter, it provides great air flow from the stock box and is better than K&N. I used K&N for years until I got yhe ITG and I will always use the ITG.
