Uh-Oh.... What could I have done?

Today I FINALLY got my MINI running again... however, the ECU was just out loose and the bumper wasnt even on. So.... we unplugged the ECU, put the bumper back on... I plugged in my unichip... and I tried to start again.

tick...tick...tick....

I go check out everything in the engine and realize that I pulled a stupid and left one arm of the unichip plugged into itself, one arm of the ecu plugged in to the stock part, and one arm of the ecu plugged into the unichip.

I unplug the unichip and try to start again.....

tick...tick...tick....

Now I have noticed that when I try to turn the ignition the headlights flicker with the ticks and the windows roll down a notch at a time with the ticks.

Now I am stumped. I checked all of the fuses that are in the engine bay and they look fine. I can check the ones in the foot well tomorrow when there is more light. What the hell could I have done? I really hope I dont have to shell out the cash for a new ECU

You are supposed to disconnect the battery before disconnecting the ECU. Hopefully you didn't fry it. Try disconnecting the battery and re-installing the ECU and unichip. Say a little prayer to the MINI gods and you might be fine. . .

Yea... this is the only reason I don't think that unplugging it before disconnecting the battery did anything. It did the same thing before and after I fixed it.

Make sure the battery is not low on charge.

I doubt it... a low battery wouldnt make the lights flicker and the windows roll down

Yea I guess its worth a shot.... but Im not talking about the lights inside the car.... Im talking about the headlights.... the headlights are turning themselves on with each click.

Thats what happens in the BMW's. Low battery makes all the lights flicker. Never seen the windows roll down but seen other strange things. In the 7's the headrests would go up and down by themselves. Try charging the battery and see what happens.

Yep, sounds like a typical low voltage condition....

any time my voltmeter reads less than 11 volts, thats exactly what happens.
