Sorry to hear this, Spider. I wish I could help, but I don't have bim-com. I do, however, know what the code means, kinda. Copied from my330i.com....

SAE CodeP1613DTC Code18021DescriptionMIL Call-up Circuit Open/Short to B+
The code should be at least very similar on our MINIs. The MIL is the "Maintenance Indicator Light," so perhaps your dash electronics are on the fritz... Anyways, that should maybe help some. Just to cover the bases, but did you do anything to the car within the last few ignition cycles? Good luck, man.

From the Bently manual..

P1613, Serial Communication Link ASC. This would mean that either one of the modules on the ASC/DSC bus is kaput, or that the wiring is effed up.

So the code is a bit different than the BIMMER.... But still sucks...

The rest of the story..... i called Eric at Helix for some help and he gave me a lot of good places to look for the trouble...... I drove to RSpeed and pulled out the Bently manual for the second time in two days and while chasing down the wiring diagram I came to a fuse and thought....hmmm...... sure enough..... Eric of course asssumed i had already been there , done that ...when I called him to tell on myself he gave me some good natured kidding... i really appreciated his help and time.... again, so far so good..... Thanks to all who offered suggestions

Someone swapped engines for me and since then the dsc light and flat tire lights came on too. I checked and swapped sensors but they stayed on. I am thinking there is a wire they didnt connect somewhere under the hood. What things did they tell you to look for as far as wiring. I see a wire running from the back coming into the engine bay that looks like it kinda melted but seems intact. Not sure what it is. Does the wire that connect the button for the tire pressure reset come into the engine bay from under the car?
