Service Engine Soon
Service Engine Soon
So get this.
I'm accelerating onto the freeway lastnight at a normal rate, nothing too fast allthough I didn't have a very long merging lane. Anyway, as I'm accelerating through 3rd gear, I have a temporary complete loss of power. When she finally comes round again the service engine soon light comes on as well as the asc light. Also, even though my car was still running, it now had a HORRIBLE FAST vibration as well as a really bad knocking sound. I figured it was best to limp on down the shoulder and get off at the next exit and limp home. Now the huge kick in the but about all of this is that this happened last night a mere 17 miles AFTER my warrenty expired.
I have no idea what the problem could be. I'm thinking that it feels and sounds like a cylinder is firing??? Should I take it to the closest MINI dealer which is more than 40 miles away? or should I take it to Central Coast Coopers which is a fairly new yet very professional and very good MINI parts dealer/installer and mechanic here in Ventura County?? I mean heck, if the warrenty is expired then what's the difference?? Does anyone know what the problem could be? Any help of advice would be appreciated.:impatient

Ouch!
That really sucks... No clue without looking at the motor or scanning the codes to see what the ECU thinks is screwed up. It way be worth a sob story about the 17 miles to get it under the warranty, but if it's no go, I'd go anywhere but a dealer!
Good luck....
