MCSa Rough Startup
MCSa Rough Startup
I have a 2005 MCSa and recently I have noticed that it is really rough starting when the engine is cold. It is spring here, to 50-70 outside. It sould like it is about to die, but it holds on and runs. Later it is fine. What could be wrong? I need an oil change here in about 2k miles, so I might wait until them to goto the dealer. If needed.
Thanks is advance,
William

Hey there,
I have had the same problem here in AZ. -and I have seen it on alot of other posts. Mine does this when they change the gasoline formula from summer to winter ( and vise versa ).
That would be my first guess - try running a different brand of high octane - it helped mine.
My 04 MCS would fire and then die or idle very rough for few minutes, then it was fine for the rest of the day.
Good luck

I believe you have the “normal” problem all MINIs have. Although there are a number of problems discussed, I believe this thread is devoted to this problem. You won’t learn how to get the problem fixed by reading the thread, but you will come to believe that you are not alone. Like Bigcoyote, I've gotten temporary relief by switching brands of gasoline.
Called the dealer, and was informed that they have had OVER 20 MINIs in that week for the same problem. They dont know how to fix it. They are awating a software update from MINI.
