Might want to look at Ultimate Pedals. They have a "heel toe" gas pedal:

It is less than $85 and comes in several finishes. They also offer brake, clutch, and dead pedals.

Thanks for injecting this into the heel/toe equation, as it is often completely ignored. Ten bucks says that most people who speak of heal/toe scratch their heads when someone says "double clutch." I had a '78 Accord that literally couldn't be downshifted into 2nd without double clutching. With the right match you could slip it in with no clutch.

Here is another technique that works very well for us in the Mini,

Instead of rolling your foot to bring the revs up,

I use the ball of my foot on the brake pedal, then I rotate my ankle and hit the gas pedal with the heal part of my foot.

This way, you can really have a good feel on the brakes at all time.

Hope this helps
Victor

I'm going to try that, Victor. Thanks.

Does anyone have a link to a video showing H&T technique? That's what's really missing...

Here is a link that I used when I was first learning how. There's no videos but the diagrams are pretty useful.

Very nice diagrams! (though you must have size 6 feet or smaller to blip the throttle w/ your heel in a MINI! My heel isn't anywhere near the base of the gas pedal)

Yeah, I learned to do it like that but now, I tend to just roll the outside of my foot onto the gas instead of using the heel. Just make sure you keep a good portion of your foot on the brake so it doesn't slip off.

I keep the left side of my foot on the brake and blip the throttle with the right side of my foot and small toes. I do worry about slipping off the brake, however. This method works well on the street, but I had difficulty on the track. As my brakes got hot (stock calipers & rotors, greenstuff pads, motul fluid), the pedal would go further down, to the point that I can no longer reach the gas pedal with my foot on the brake. I played around with the heel-on-gas method today, but my knee hits the steering column. I've got size 14 feet; getting my heel twisted up to the right requires a better contortionist's act than I can muster. :-)

That's my problem as well. I've got size 12's but I'm also 6'4" so I have trouble finding a good seat position. If I get close, I can reach the shifter and wheel easy but my legs don't have enough room to move (especially for proper heel-toe). With the seat back, my legs have room and I can still reach the wheel but I almost have to lean forward to grab 5th gear.

I'm 6'1" and had a similar issue, the best comprimise I've found is wrists on the wheel with a slight bend in the elbow, then for heel toe it becimes much more left right of the foot for me (15W) always have extra room to move seemed to be the most comfortamble and smoothest position for me. but I still can't see the top of the tach.

I tried to get my heel on the gas pedal today at a stop light. I was braking with the lower arch of my foot in order to get my heel anywhere near the bottom of the gas pedal and, even then, I had very little leverage to move the gas (my heel was too close to the floor hinge). I've got a feeling that this would have been easier in a car w/ a suspended gas pedal...

I've installed them a year ago and h/t became a daily routine Those are the nices pedal I've every came across and I got it engraved with "ESM" on the B pedal in diamond plate finish which does not slip even when wet

My shoe size is 8-1/2. I've tried both techniques and neither works for me. The height difference and the large gap between the gas and brake pedals are just BAD for folks with smaller feet.

A few friends (w/ similar shoe sizes) also tried out my car and found the same issue. They tried both heel-toeing & rolling the foot ... very difficult for small feet

There is probably no way to lower the brake pedal height to better match the gas pedal position. BUT looks like there is a few choices out there for a left-extended gas pedal which "possibly" allow for rolling my foot to blip the gas. Actually I may talk to folks making Ultimate Pedals to see if they can make a more extended size gas pedal. Will keep you guys posted on my search.

I could see a problem w/ smaller feet and using the pinkie toe / roll the foot method.

I have the other problem with one pair of shoes... they are so wide that I can't get them between the right side column and the brake pedal to get to the gas! Oh well... one more case for wearing driving shoes!

Heel/Toe racing billet aluminum pedels

Thanks Kapps BTW, my shoes size is 8 1/2 and no problem blipping and/or heel/toe. You can also mix and match pedals too. My is from Ferrari/mini.
