problems with CVT and possibly the engine: can anybody help?
hi i have a technical question for all you genious people out there. i have a 2005 mini cooper with the CVT tranny. i've recently had problems with the car acting like its gonna stall after start up and moving the gear selector into reverse. in addition there is a new high pitched noise, sounds almost like a whistle, coming from the left side of the engine block (looking at it from the front of the car), where all the belts are. can anyone help me out there?
I'm no mechanic, but it sounds like there could be a vacumn hose leak. This could be giving the wrong signal to the computer. If this is what it is, this should be a simple solution.
Hi, this is normal if you live in a cold region. When the engine is cold the RPM is higher than normal so the computer has to adjust itself by lowering the RPM when you change into reverse or Drive. However, after the engine warmed up and you still encounter this problem I would advice you to the dealer and have them take a look. The high pitch noise sound is your steering wheel fan. The whistle might come from intake if you have one. Please let me know how it turns out for you because my service advisor said that the car has no problem while I am encountering problems very similar to yours. GL
