Thanks for the response guys so the new clutch is normal and good... I'll buy that But doesnt explain why the new one still squeeked after I got the replacement. I was scheudled to go back in today to let them check it out but for the past one and a half days I didnt hear a peep out of the clutch. So I'm going to leave it alone and see how it pans out first. Maybe it was still breaking in?

The clutches in my '84 vette would go from feather light to requiring herculean effort over their lifetimes. It has to do with the spring mechanisms fatiguing (losing shape) and particulary getting fouled with clutch disc dust.

My current clutch is squealing mildly at take off and getting more difficult to depress over time. The squeeling would indicate that the flywheel is already blue-burnt and probably heat stress cracked, so no need to rush a replacement. I'll just get the most out of it until it starts to slip before I replace clutch and flywheel.
That may be true, but I'm talking about comparing cars with less than ten miles on them.

Ya I'm almost sure that MINI changed to a lighter clutch sometime in 2003. I really liked my old heavy clutch feel.
